For 32 years I helped build some of the largest companies in the Research Triangle Park of North Carolina. I was smart enough to marry a woman a decade younger than me and we have three boys. They’re grown up so we’ve gotten rid of the mini-van for high performance sports sedans and SUVs.

Since I began this blog in 2024 I founded the IT department of 1-800-Pack-Rat, designed The American Kennel Club’s new global data center, and built Icon Protection, an employee-owned company taking revenue from $50 million a year in 2008 to half billion by 2025. I’m still involved with several manufacturing and supply chain technology initiatives and projects originating from the RTP including:
- Building ZTSµ, ztsmicro.com where I am an employee-owner designing and deploying high powered servers for Agentic AI LLMs
- Acting as Chief Technology Officer for the bigbox.bot, an Agentic AI model for retail and industrial supply chain data integration
- Mastering Digital Supply Chain Management
- Managing and learning data models for ERP systems including Dynamics AX, Infor M3, Epicor, SAP, NetSuite and others
- Electronic Document Interchange (EDI) partnership development
- iPass integrations for data endpoints, SOAP and REST APIs, and EDI X12 and EDIFact document translation
- Barcode and label automation for GS1 vendor compliance
- Building IT teams of top-level SMEs
In my career I’ve been lucky enough to deploy and manage a history of technologies such as:
- Zero Trust authentication, SASE, SSO, MFA security measures, and Disaster Recovery
- Enterprise Wide and Local Area network communication, secure WAP, SSID and Handheld RF deployments
- Firewalls, port management and network gateway security configurations including BGP and HA SD-WAN
- Remote application deployment and configuration (Citrix ICA Gateways, VPNs)
- Hypervisors and they’re respected VMs (VMWare, MS Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer)
- Enterprise SQL database deployment, maintenance and administration
- Business Intelligence systems deployment and report development (Business Objects, Qlikview, QlikSense, MS Power BI)
- Storage Area Networks and Compute Resources (NetApp, EMC, Nimble Storage)
- And of course Active Directory and Microsoft 365 Administration. I can’t remember not being a Domain or Global Admin.
Somewhere on this site there’s even an old resume hiding.
