{"id":485,"date":"2009-03-28T09:22:38","date_gmt":"2009-03-28T14:22:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/toddsingleton.net\/chronicle\/index.php\/?p=485"},"modified":"2009-03-30T09:35:34","modified_gmt":"2009-03-30T14:35:34","slug":"paul-krugman-for-treasury-secretary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/toddsingleton.net\/chronicle\/2009\/03\/28\/paul-krugman-for-treasury-secretary\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Paul Krugman for Treasury Secretary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is all I want for my birthday.\u00a0 Anyone who knows me can attest I haven&#8217;t asked for anything for my birthday in years.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paul_Krugman\">Paul Krugman<\/a> is a Nobel prize winning economist and Professor of Economics and International affairs at Princeton when he&#8217;s not writing for the NY Times.\u00a0 He received a BS from Yale and a Ph.D. from MIT by the time he was 24.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been a fan since January of 2007 when he published an this article, <a href=\"http:\/\/krugman.blogs.nytimes.com\/2009\/01\/27\/a-dark-age-of-macroeconomics-wonkish\/\"><em>The Dark Age of Macroeconomics<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0 He was also one of the first people to call out the sinister Phil Gramm as one of the architects of the recession long before it was known he authored the legislation allowing the retention bonuses at AIG.<\/p>\n<p>We need a Wall Street outsider at the helm of this disaster.\u00a0 Not another former Wall St. Chairman and bankers best friend.\u00a0 Keeping bankers happy will only do so much to alleviate the crisis we&#8217;re in.\u00a0 Bring in an outsider.\u00a0 Since before Obama appointed Geithner (which was the moment I first questioned Obama&#8217;s commitment to &#8220;change&#8221;), Krugman was a known contender for the job.\u00a0 Draft him if necessary but do what should have been done in the first place.\u00a0 Time and money are burning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is all I want for my birthday.\u00a0 Anyone who knows me can attest I haven&#8217;t asked for anything for my birthday in years.
