\"dl650-thumb.jpg\"<\/a>I’m really trying to talk myself out of this but I can’t.\u00a0 I test drove a new 2008 Suzuki V-Strom 650 during lunch yesterday (don’t tell Amy).\u00a0 As badly as I should buy a car, more specifically a truck, I really want this crazy cool dual sport.\u00a0 First I’ll list the reasons why I probably shouldn’t pursue this:<\/p>\n

  1. I’m in my mid to late 30’s.<\/li>\n
  2. I have small children.<\/li>\n
  3. I commute 40 miles one way to work.<\/li>\n
  4. The last time I owned a motorcycle I almost lost the use of my right leg in a violent fiery crash (not at fault).<\/li>\n
  5. People will tell me it’s irresponsible.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Now I will try to justify my desire against the intelligent, rational logic above:<\/p>\n

    1. I’m in my mid to late 30’s (30 is the new 20 ya know).<\/li>\n
    2. Connor and Logan will think I’m the coolest dad alive.<\/li>\n
    3. This thing gets 51 mpg.<\/li>\n
    4. I rode a motorcycle exclusively without owning a car for 2 1\/2 years before the accident plus I’m about 15 years older now.<\/li>\n
    5. When was the last time I cared what anyone else thought?\u00a0 Besides, soon I can pay cash for this and I despise consumer financing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The real reason I may buy a bike is because I want one.\u00a0 For some reason I cannot bring myself to get excited about the prospect of car shopping or a new car or truck.\u00a0 I don’t even have the motivation to go look at them.\u00a0 The idea of this dual sport commuter gets me pumped.\u00a0 I can’t remember being this enthusiatic about anything in a while.\u00a0 So should I do the responsible, conservative thing and insure my safety for the sake of my family at the sacrifice of my own enthusiasm and happiness?\u00a0 Or do I get my ass back in gear again and live?\u00a0 Decisions…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
